STAY ON TRACK W/FOOD

Hello, friends.  I've had diabetes for about 6 months now, & still haven't done very well in eating a healthy, balanced diet.  I'm also trying to lose about 45-50 pounds.  I was wondering if any of you can recommend a good book about Diabetes that covers basic information, recipes & calorie/carbohydrate counts.  My weight is down one day & up the next.  I know I'm not eating enough to make my body let go of the fat.  Any ideas?

When I first was diagnosed in January.. I just tried to follow a strict 4 carb servings for breakfast and lunch.. and 5 carb servings for dinner.. Now i'm a bit more flexible but It helped keep my weight down since I wasn't goin to the gym.

I do alot of research and reading on the internet. You can find tons of recipes online. Before I ever go out to dinner I also look up the place I'm going to to see if they have nutritional facts.

I guess my drive and reason I stay so strict is because I fear that I'm going to develop more problems. My doctor even says sometimes to not be so strict with myself.. I just can't help it =)
